The Jane Powell Memorial Library is a gifted service from the Bristol and South West region in memory of Jane, our friend and colleague.
The library was set up by ASLI in 2007 in remembrance of Jane Powell for the benefit of those training and studying to become interpreters. Knowledge and professional development were close to Jane’s heart and as such the library serves as an ongoing tribute to her.
Jane was an exceptional interpreter, extremely well thought of by all her colleagues and clients, a wonderful friend, beloved wife and mother. Sadly she died in 2004 and is missed by all who knew her.
Jane grew up in the Bristol Deaf community as the only child of Deaf parents. She is survived by her mother Annie, who is a regular attendee at the Bristol Centre for Deaf people.
In 2013 SigningWorks took over its administration. The borrowing process is straight forward just email us your book request at [email protected]
The resources have been donated by interpreters and interested organisations. If you feel you would like to donate any books to the library, please contact SigningWorks.
